Several folks have asked questions about Taurus' serial numbers, but I don't remember ever seeing a reply. You may have to go through Taurus to see of they can give you any info (share it, if you get it). Since you already have it, put a couple hundred rounds through it and see how it runs. There have been several polls posted about Taurus PT1911 reliability, and from the responses I gather the problems are not as great as people make them out. Plus, it's a 1911, if something breaks, fix it. If you don't like something, change it. That's the best part of owning this style of pistol. But.I recently bought a new Taurus 1911 and the serial number prefix is 'NBM'. Can anyone tell me what I can gather from this prefix? ![]() ![]() Is this a recent build gun, an old one? How do the prefixes work? I ask because I hear (read) that the early Taurus weapons had more problems than the later ones.
